Featured Wedding August 2020 - Amelia and Joseph

The wedding of Amelia & Joseph

Why did you choose Adelaide Town Hall as your venue?

We chose the Auditorium in the Adelaide Town Hall as our venue as it's a beautiful, historic and well-located located spot, especially for guests that were staying in the city or that wanted to go out afterwards. Also, I used to work in the Town Hall's Eagle Chambers – every day I would walk into the amazing building and just knew that I had to have our wedding there. We also really loved the overall vibe and historical elements to the venue – the auditorium is just an incredible room that required little decoration because it’s already so beautiful and it has a very magical feel to it which reminds me of Europe.

Tell us about your wedding day.

We loved every moment of our wedding day. I got ready at my mum’s house and spent the morning with my bridesmaids and mum, getting our hair and makeup done and just enjoying the moment together. Everyone lost it laughing when I started to vacuum, saying they’d never seen a bride vacuuming on her wedding day – but hey, you got to do it for floor’s sake!

Joseph and the groomsmen got ready at his house – they had some spare time and went down to the basketball court (his favourite sport) to shoot a few hoops!

A white mustang (my favourite car) took my mum and I to the cathedral – the bridesmaids and groomsmen were in red Mustangs. I had a bunch of my favourite small humans take the rings down the isle – they all had matching dresses with the boys in adorable suits.

My mum walked me down the aisle while Harpist Emma Horwood played Ave Maria and it was a really emotional moment seeing everyone there when the cathedral doors opened to let us through.

Our priest, Father Tadeusz Przybylak, made us feel so calm and he is a very good friend of mine who flew in especially from Canberra for our ceremony. He joined us later that night at the reception.

We had a full mass (Catholic ceremony) and my brother in law, Mateusz, read one of my favourite readings in Polish for the second reading, and Joseph’s sister, Sophie, did the second reading.

When the ceremony finished, we had photos taken around the city.

The reception was so much fun – all of the guests got up to dance along to Disco Polo and some classic 90’s hits, and there were a few wet eyes around, and lots of laughter… especially during the speeches.

Each guest had a little card on their menu that had the three phonetic pronunciations of ‘Cheer’s in Polish, Italian and Greek. On that card there was also pronunciation of ‘Gorzko, Gorzko’ which translates to bitter bitter and is a Polish wedding traditional whereby guests chant this out to demand a kiss from the bride and groom to sweeten the taste of their vodka.

Everyone that I know said how much fun they had, and they didn’t expect to dance so much. We heard the words ‘spectacular’ and ‘best wedding ever!’ a lot from our guests.

What was your favourite photo backdrop at the Adelaide Town Hall?

In front of the organ, with the beautiful pillars in the background! That was definitely our favourite shot.

Amelia and Joseph’s local suppliers:

My wedding dress was a semi-custom piece from Adelaide Bridal Emporium – I had the bow custom-made for the dress. My vision for my dress was created and brought to life by the wonderful Kate, from Adelaide Bridal Emporium.

Our photographer was the outstanding Ky LUU from B Captured who is just flawless – I don’t have high enough praise for his passion and work. Ky made the photo session and day so fun - I honestly think it was one of the top highlights from the day. He just goes above and beyond and is so hilarious and kind, he already knows that he will be photographing all future family events.

Brady Krawczyk from Infinity Films was our videographer - he was absolutely outstanding! Brady's work is flawless, and he was so on the ball the entire day, making suggestions and asking for specific shots - everyone loved him. We were so incredibly happy with our videos and the way he captured the whole day and night. He is just so great at what he does and really makes everyone feel comfortable behind the camera. So, so talented!

Our florist was the incredible Lee Bouras from Wyld Orchids. She just knew my vision for the room and we worked so well together. She is just so passionate and great at what she does. Lee went above and beyond, and I’ve recommended her to everyone I know.
