Each month we feature a stunning wedding held at the beautiful and historic Adelaide Town Hall, sharing with you all the intricate details of the couple's dream day.

For most people, their wedding day is one of the most memorable days of their lives. We have had the privilege of sharing this moment in time with many couples, and now we’d like to take the opportunity to feature one couple who shared their special day with us back in December 2018.

The wedding of Celeste & Jake

Tell us your love story.

We had known of each other since high school and had probably crossed paths many times but were never introduced, however we officially met for the first time at the 2015 Adelaide Fringe. I was a performer and Jake was a guest in the artist bar. We had some mutual friends who introduced us to each other and as soon as we met it seemed like we had known each other for years. We went on our first date a few weeks later and we’ve been together ever since.

It was a few months of planning between the ring and the proposal but it all came together perfectly. I had told Celeste I was just taking her out for dinner as a regular ‘Date night’ we try to do every few months however had made other plans.

I privately hired the venue ‘Marybank Farm’ and once we arrived (and after some persuasion) I blindfolded Celeste and led her up a steep path to where the winery gardens and patio are located. As we reached the top of the hill, music began playing and I asked her to take off her blindfold.

I had a beautiful proposal set up waiting that I had organised through some amazing event planners, and when we finally made it there I got down on one knee and proposed with a ring designed by Adelaide jewellery designer Cassandra Mamone. I also had a photographer there, capturing the entire thing and that turned out to be the best idea of the day. We then had a little ‘engagement’ photo shoot and were left to spend some time together drinking champagne and wandering through the winery grounds before seeing our families to celebrate

Why did you choose Adelaide Town Hall as your venue?

We chose the Adelaide Town hall because we wanted a unique venue that had both class and character. The Town Hall is so grand and the gold organ in the Auditorium is such a picturesque background for photos.

My (Celeste’s) sister had also gotten married here seven years prior and I just fell in love with it then, it was always on my list.

Tell us about your wedding day.

We were married on Saturday 22 December 2018 and we were so lucky to get a beautifully sunny summers day. With a bridal party of six bridesmaids and six groomsmen and a page boy, it was a full-on morning, but we loved it and had so much fun getting ready at our parents’ homes.

Us girls had a girly slumber party and spent the morning getting pampered by hair and makeup artists while sipping champagne (the dream!). Jake and the boys were a little more laid back, they started with a big breakfast and some celebratory drinks and spent most of their time admiring the bikes and cars that were chauffeuring them around for the day. We had photographers and videographers there capturing these moments, and bar a broken zipper on the Matron of Honours dress, all went off without a hitch.

Our ceremony was at The Monastery (St Pauls of the Cross) – a church surround by stunning gardens that were the backdrop for our family photos. While us girls were a little late, the ceremony went just as we planned and our priest Father Tony made it all so easy.

For photos we first headed to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, it was such a warm and sunny day so the trees made for the perfect backdrop. We did the girls, the boys, the entire bridal party and just the two of us. It was beautiful, but after so much smiling it was definitely time for a drink so our next stop was a neighbour of the town hall - Electra House.

This is where the bridal party were lucky enough to put up their feet and down a few well-deserved Aperol Spritz. Jake and I took this opportunity to get some amazing architectural shots around King William Road and these turned out to be some of our faves of the day.

Finally, we headed across the road to the gorgeous Town Hall where of course – we took a bunch more photos. The grand staircase, the Auditorium, the Balcony – our photographers tried them all.

We followed our family’s Italian tradition of greeting all our (260) guests upon arrival and finally we made our big newlyweds’ entrance. We had a live band entertaining us for the night and even saw some bridal party members jump on stage to sing the Nutbush. Speeches, the first dance and our same day edit brought out lots of tears and lot of laughter, and plenty of drinks and dancing rounded out an amazing day.

To finish off we had bottles of organic, personalized wine lined up and waiting for guests to take as they exited and we certainly cracked open a few of these at our at post wedding celebrations the next day.

What was your favourite photo backdrop at the Adelaide Town Hall?

We had some amazing shots up in the Dress Circle of the Auditorium. These have to be some of our absolute favourites. The lighting, the warmth – just perfect.

What was your favourite dish from EPICURE on the day?

As we are both vegan we had a wonderful time working with the event coordinators and chefs on picking a unique and special vegan menu for the event. All dishes were just delicious!
