Inky Fingers Comic Gang Workshops

Join us at City Library and become a member of the Inky Fingers Comic Gang with cartoonist Georgina Chadderton. These workshops are recommended for those 8-14 years who are looking for a fun and engaging way to create comics. No previous experience is required and all are welcome! Those under 12 need an adult present during the workshop (adults do not need to book a spot).

Creating Characters and Drawing Emotions: Monday 21 June, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

This workshop begins with a live-drawing example of character creation. You will be given time to create and draw your own characters using the pencilling then inking method you learn about. After the characters are drawn, you will learn how to draw your character with different emotions.

Item Prompt Comics: Monday 19 July, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Using randomly selected prompts and comics page templates, you will select paper prompts and stick a prompt underneath a panel in a template. You will then draw a comic using the prompts you have chosen.

Jam Comics: Monday 16 August, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Together the group will create a character that is then used by all participants to make jam comics. Jam comics go like this: each page is separated into three sections - the first section is drawn by one participant, the second section is drawn by a second participant and the third by a third participant. At the end of the workshop we all show and share the pages and see what adventures our new character has gone on!
